Jing #2

Using Jing you can create many educational aids for the classroom. Below you will see an example of an educational aid I would use in a classroom when explaining how to insert a new slide into PowerPoint. I could also place blanks where the text is and use this as a formative assessment.

ISTE-NETS-T STANDARDS
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
This standard is met through the creation of a image that can aid in the visual learners learning. It can help to demonstrate and emphasize what is being taught. The creativity is that it is a snap shot of work actually done by the instructor, rahter than a text book produced image.

2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
The creation of the image and the implmentation of it meets this standard. A jing graphic could also be used on a test for labeling or explaing what is happening.

3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
The use of Jing is technology and digital age work, by using this you are creating encourgament of 21st Century Learning skills and the use of those skills in work.

Bender Converter - YouTube Video

After several unsuccessful attempts to download a YouTube video, I have found a solution. After talking with Dr. Pierce about the matter and discover the amazing Bender Converter, I have been successful in downloading a YouTube Video. The bender converter is a very neat site in which you just paste the URL of the video you want to convert and then convert the movie to a certain file type. For my case I converted the file to a .mov because I have a mac computer.

I was sucessful in downloading the video! Yay! I know have the video save on my personal computer, for playback as I choose.

The video that I downloaded was: Did you Know 2.0. It is about technology and how it is changing our lives.

ISTE NETS T STANDARDS

I believe this process meets all of the standards because of the digital media involved with a YouTube video, the software requirements to download the video then upload it into a blog post and the entire process in between, I believe that I have learned a great deal through this experience because I had to learn from my mistakes, and it did not work on the first try or even the second or third. That is part of the learning process though, you have to discover to understand and learn.
