Browser Wars

Its hard to believe that the internet is still so young and so new. Technology changes at a speed that is almost impossible to keep up with, yet that is what makes it so interesting and intriguing.

Currently the most common browser that I am aware of is Internet Explorer; however while at home I use the Safari browser as I have a mac computer.

What is a web browser?
A web browser or Internet browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web. An information resource is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video, or other piece of content. What does the term 'browser war' mean and what drives the competition between web browsers?
The term "browser war" is referring to the competition between the different browser options and which one people are using the most to search the internet.

What is the big deal in having the #1 browser?
By having the #1 browser that means that more people are accessing your browser and believe that it is the most reliable and secure browser there is.

3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
By using a variety of browers and acessing the internet we are modeling digital age work and promoting learning through the use of the internet and various progams/site located on the internet.

4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Being on the internet is a direct connection to society, from reading about current events to emailing your family members, the internet helps us connect to the world around us. By using the internet a teacher must enforce proper eticute and ethical codes to help students become responsible citizens that are "browsing" the internet.
