Learning Style

Different modalities of learning are evident in all of us. Some people might have one specific way of learning while another might have a combination of learning styles, no matter what the style may be we all have a different approach to learning that needs to be addressed.

In many of my previous educational classes I have discussed multi modalities of learning and how the different learning styles can effect they way a teacher teaches the material at hand. I have never personally taken a multi modality test but I have given them to my students to determine the best teaching method. I strongly believe in the research that supports these theories and agree that people learn in many different ways.

I think that my learning style would be a mixture of
Visual
Kinesthetic
Verbal/Aural
Social

After taking the learning style tests my scores were reported as follows:
Visual: 5
Aural: 4
Read/Write: 2
Kinesthetic: 9

After looking at my scores it seems that I am more of a kinesthetic learner that a visual learner which surprises me that my scores turned out that way.

ISTE NETS T Standards

1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Understanding the modalities of learning within your classroom is crucial to the success of all students. By understanding those modalities and creating lessons and activities that address all of the modalities of learning you are encouraging learning and providing an environment in which all students have the opportunity for success.

2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
This could be related to this standard in the manner of how you are designing lessons and assessments based on your students modalities of learning.
