Locus of Control Survey/Quiz
My score was 16.
15 - 19; Internal locus of control
I actually agree with my score. I feel that I do have an internal locus of control bust sometimes there is thoughts of luck and chance, making my locus of control weaker than someone who might not believe in those things.
I think self-diagnostic tests are usually correct when I take them; however I have noticed that many of them ask similar questions. I am not really against these tests they have always seemed to be accurate. On the test that we just took I was confused as how the government questions pertained to locus of control. It just seems to me that locus of control has more to do with your own personal influences on yourself rather than those on the government, but that is just a personal opinion.
What is locus of control and how does it impact students/teachers?
The locus of control is the affect that you believe you have over your life and how your experiences affect your life. Locus of control is also related to your beliefs of luck and chance in your life. Locus of Control influences students by their beliefs when it comes to effort, school work, and education. If a student has an external locus of control, one might believe that it is the teacher's fault that they failed the test even if the realistic reason is that they did not study for a test. A student with an internal locus of control might believe that their studying habits are directly related to their good grades. It is the same theory for a teacher just based on their ability to teach the students. One with an external locus of control might believe students struggling is due to issues with that student rather than a teaching strategy used by that teacher.
How can awareness of personal characteristics improve performance in a learning environment?
Well as stated above you can see the effects a locus of control can have over both teachers and students. Based on the type of locus of control can directly influence the learning environment. It can affect student and teacher attitudes towards education which will directly set the mood for the learning environment.
Locus of Control has great influence over our daily lives.
